A Look Ahead at the O’s Upcoming Series Against the Red Sox

schoop-ortiz

With 13 games left on their regular season schedule, the O’s welcome the division-leading Red Sox to Camden Yards on Monday to kick off a four game series.

The O’s enter the series three games behind Boston for the division lead, and one game ahead of Toronto for the wild card lead in a race that stands as follows (top two teams make playoffs):

  • Baltimore … +1.0
  • Toronto … —
  • Detroit … 2.0 GB
  • Seattle … 2.0 GB
  • Houston … 3.0 GB
  • New York … 4.0 GB
  • Kansas City … 4.5 GB

After scoring just two runs the last couple nights, the O’s will have to get their bats going to hang with a Red Sox team which, in game 1’s lineup, holds seven players batting above .290 (Pedroia, Bogaerts, Ortiz, Betts, Ramirez, Leon, Benintendi). In game 1, Boston will send Cy Young candidate, Rick Porcello, to the mound; Porcello gave up a second inning homerun to Mark Trumbo last Wednesday in a 1-0 O’s victory.

Probable Starters:

  • 9/19: Dylan Bundy vs. Rick Porcello (RHP, 3.07 era)
  • 9/20: Kevin Gausman vs. Eduardo Rodriguez (LHP, 4.98 era)
  • 9/21: Ubaldo Jimenez vs. Clay Buchholz (RHP, 5.20 era)
  • 9/22: Chris Tillman vs. David Price (LHP, 3.91 era)
